Plastic bottles are one of the largest polluters in the world. The water that we consume to live and thrive everyday is now bottled into single use plastic and sold to us for between 300-1000 times more expensive than tap water. This contributes to a 2.4 billion pounds industry each year in the UK.
In a 2017 study it was found that 76% of the UK's population used bottled water, with each plastic bottle taking at least 400 years to biodegrade. This has devastating effects on our environment.
But what about the water itself? Some people prefer the taste of bottled water over tap. However research has found that almost all bottled water tested contained micro-plastics which could be hazardous to human health. If you find the taste of tap water to lack flavour try adding a squeeze of lemon juice or a dash of mint, you will have the same great refreshing taste with zero of the micro-plastics!
